Lead Digital/Communications Organizer
Highly motivated person who has a proven track record in web-based and digital advocacy, is a good writer and is deeply committed to racial and social justice. Candidates should be skilled and experienced at working with communities of color. Having a staff that represents the communities where we organize is a key priority.
Priorities:
● Drive an aggressive effort to expand our current list of 3,000+ supporters to over 10,000. Design and implement a digital activist program, including managing e-alerts, social media, website, and other electronic platforms; list-building; engaging supporters; and expanding our public profile and impact.
● Upgrade organization website and maintain a robust website presence.
● Work with our team of organizers to convert activists engaged through digital outreach into active participants in in-person organizing.
● Manage database of supporters and utilize for targeted and segmented outreach and engagement.
● Oversee our social media platforms including FB, IG, and Twitter and work with communications staff of coalition member organizations to create social media posts and build our digital footprint.
● As needed, support the creation of communications toolkits, graphics/flyers, traditional media outreach, writing press releases, organizing press conferences.
● Develop a team of volunteer social media amplifiers (i.e., social media brigade) from among our members and provide regular content for them to repost and circulate. Develop sample posts, #hashtags, tag lists, and related graphics.
Relevant Experience:
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:
● Strong experience with developing robust e-alert program in organizing/advocacy content.
● Strong experience with building followers for social media and web-based platforms (including website).
● Strong writing and graphics skills and ability to maintain a website.
In addition, any of the following are beneficial:
● Community or union organizing background.
● Bilingual English-Spanish.
● Experience with press relations and generating coverage in traditional media outlets.
Salary and Benefits: $68,000-$89,000 plus health and dental coverage and retirement benefits, vacation and holidays.
