Media 2070 campaign manager

Website Free Press

Fight for Your Rights to Connect and Communicate.

Join us to shift media as a lever for Black liberation!

Free Press is hiring a Media 2070 campaign manager who will support the development, design and successful implementation of our campaign for media reparations.  Media 2070 works to radically transform who has the capital to tell their own stories by 2070 by winning media reparations in the present time.  The program highlights the role of media as a lever for racial justice and subsequently, the repair and reconciliation necessary to build strong, free, just communities.

The campaign manager will implement organizing, power-building and advocacy efforts that engage new and existing supporters, coalition partners, allies, media makers, journalists and legislators, and garner broad appeal and coverage. The campaign manager’s duties will include liaising with coalition partners, fostering external relationships, and supporting newsroom training, developing curriculum and necessary collateral materials.

A successful candidate will have 3+ years of experience with Black liberation and abolitionist organizing as well as media and/or cultural justice work.  The position can be done from anywhere in the U.S.

Starting salary is $60,000-$65,000 and will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. To counter pay inequality and uphold internal parity, we use a nonnegotiable starting salary system, while benchmarking our pay to competitive markets in the nonprofit sector.

We are actively seeking to build a diverse and inclusive team with a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives and skills.  If you meet some of the qualifications in the job posting, we encourage you to apply or to reach out for more information. We know groups subjected to systemic oppression– including people of color, women, people from working class backgrounds, and people who identify as LGBTQ – are less likely to apply unless and until they meet every requirement for a job. Therefore, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other communities who are marginalized.
