Climate Mobilization Project (501(c)(3)) and The Climate Mobilization (501(c)(4)) are searching for a dedicated, full-time National Organizer based in or near Sonoma County, CA. In collaboration with other staff organizers and partner organizations, the National Organizer leads campaigns for ambitious city and county policies that create a more equitable society while addressing the global climate emergency.

The National Organizer will co-develop and co-lead a campaign to pass and implement ambitious climate policies in Sonoma County and its jurisdictions. This position will entail coalition development and management; training, coaching, strategy development, and general organizing support for campaigners in Sonoma County. In addition, the National Organizer will support the organizing team’s efforts to build a network of dozens of local campaigns working for zero emissions by 2030.

Duties:

Collaborate with partner organizations to design campaign strategy, facilitate meetings, plan actions, events and develop communications strategy for the Sonoma County campaign.
Work with other organizing staff and contractors to recruit new partner organizations to Climate Mobilization Network, manage relationships with existing partner organizations, provide training and capacity building to partner groups, and support the network’s peer coaching program
Support the organizing team’s overall development of Climate Mobilization’s strategy, program goals and outcomes, webinars, materials, and trainings
Contribute to the development of digital organizing and ladder of engagement strategies for national and local campaign growth
Create national and local campaign communications materials in collaboration with organizing and communications teams
Join other staff members in Climate Mobilization’s cross-program teams and collective decision-making structure
This position is currently 100% remote and exempt. As safety permits, occasional travel and/or in-person meetings will eventually be required for this role.

 

Qualifications include:

Based in Sonoma County, CA or within close proximity
At least 3 years of organizing experience, preferably for a national organization or within Sonoma County, CA
High-level experience with facilitation, organizer training, direct action planning, campaign strategy, organizational development, and/or using strategic communications to advance organizing campaigns strongly preferred
Interest and ability to build relationships, processes and structures as part of a rapidly growing organizing program.
Strong foundation of community organizing skills
Strong communication skills and a collaborative work style
Highly motivated and self-starting, with strong project management skills
Proven success using actions, strategic communications and/or arts/cultural work to advance organizing campaigns
Salary and Benefits:

Salary $60,000 – $70,000 depending on experience
Employer offers PTO, a one-time computer or phone stipend, and a partially subsidized health insurance package.
1 year contract, with possibility of renewal
