Summary – Maryland Latinos Unidos (MLU) was created in the midst of the serious threat presented by Covid19 to Latino Marylanders to help “connect the dots” between state and local community services and the Latinx community. We are hiring a Program Manager to help build and manage the activities of the Mid-Atlantic Latinx Vaccine Equity Coalition (MALVEC) – a DMV regional effort co-founded with Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University, the City of Annapolis, the Center of HELP/AYUDA and CASA.

– MALVEC’s ultimate goal is to support access to the Covid19 vaccine and increase vaccination intake by building confidence in under-served Latinx communities. Part of its mandate is to support improved overall Latinx health management by building relationships with municipal, other local, and state healthcare systems. By providing health education opportunities via outreach with a trained Community Health Worker team, MALVEC promotes community-building and their ability to be better advocates on their own behalf.

Job duration:
This position is funded for one year (2021-2022) with the potential of becoming permanent dependent on the extension of the grant.

Locations: MLU Headquarters are located in Baltimore, but flexible for the right candidate. The position is primarily remote, but includes state and possibly some regional travel.

How you can help build a healthier Maryland:

• Recruit, train, and supervise a team of Program Community Health Workers (CHWs);
• Train and coordinate MALVEC volunteers.
• Train CHW team on Covid19 vaccine confidence training information and materials.
• Organize and lead the CHW team on digital tools, scripts, and supplement materials.
• Help build and lead CHW team’s outreach and implementation of community events and trainings.
• Use digital organizing tools for public engagement, including e-mails, and social media, to plan and for community outreach events.
• Assist Core Team and Program Director in various areas like building coalition membership.
• Ensure the organization’s purpose is conveyed to the public.
• Meet all goals and metrics.
• Participate and complete all required training personally and for your CHW team.
• Bring a positive and energetic attitude when talking to potential MALVEC partners and community members.
• Complete daily and weekly reports and contribute to the final grants reports.

What you bring to the table:

• Minimum of at least 2-3 years of community organizing experience on issue and/or political advocacy campaigns. Public health campaign experience a plus.
• Good understanding of process-building and experience working with strict deadlines and goals.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to make sure that short term and long term priorities get completed.
• Excellent communication skills – Bilingual – English and Spanish is highly desirable.
• Ability to prioritize and effectively manage a small team of Community Health Workers (CHW) and multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
• A team player mentality, as well as the ability to self-direct and work independently
• Ability to cultivate and manage volunteers and volunteer leaders
• Must have access to a personal vehicle with a valid driver’s license, a cell phone, and preferably a laptop computer although one can be provided
• Must be organized, highly motivated, and capable of working long hours to include evenings and weekends
• Winning mentality and a flexible attitude.

: Pay is between $47,500-$50,000/annually. Generous time off and Leadership training opportunities.


• Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable mode of transportation, and the ability to travel at times throughout the state
• Must have access to a working smartphone
• Must have the ability to occasionally lift and carry 25 lbs.
