Organizing for Social Change

The Midwest Academy Strategy Chart is considered a gold standard in the field for analyzing power and going from angry to effective.

This five-day training provides concrete skills as well as a framework for thinking about how to do effective progressive organizing. The tools are compatible with a wide variety of organizing models, and provide a framework for critical and constructive thinking about how to achieve the goals of your particular organization, constituency, issue mix, and social and political context.

Strategy, power, self-interest, relationship building – Midwest Academy’s Organizing for Social Change training will give you the baseline skills you need for effective progressive organizing work.  Whether you’re a new organizer or looking to brush up and expand your skills, this training will give you a solid foundation in how to bring people together in campaigns that win.

As an added bonus, you will spend five days in the company of other progressive organizers from across the country, and learn from their experiences as well!

Scholarships
We would like everyone in the movement to come to our great training for free! But income from our training and consulting work is the primary source of revenue for the Midwest Academy. These sessions are not subsidized by foundations. Therefore, we are not able to provide a lot of scholarships, and all scholarships are partial. But if your organization truly needs help to access this training, use this form to tell us about yourself and your organization.

In the event you can not make the session you signed up for: We honor requests to transfer registration to a future session! Just reach out to us as soon as you know you have a conflict. This helps us accurately plan and keeps our waitlist from growing unnecessarily.
  • More than 4 weeks prior to the start date of the session: we will happily transfer your registration to a future session, no extra fees! If you prefer to cancel instead, we will refund the total amount minus $100 for administrative fees.
  • Less than 4 weeks prior to the start date of the session: we will still transfer your registration, though will need to add a transfer fee of $50. Cancellations will result in a 50% refund.

If you do NOT show up and have given no notice, we can not give a refund.
