National Worker Organizing Coordinator


The Leadership Center for the Common Good is a national training and support center for community organizations.  Common Good works with a range of community-based and grassroots organizations on an array of social justice issues, ranging from living wage jobs to immigrants’ rights, from environmental justice/green jobs to education reform.  

Job Title: Worker Organizing Coordinator
Position: Full-time, 1 year with goal of making permanent
Reports To: Economic Justice Program Director
Location: Washington, DC

Position Summary:
Common Good is hiring a highly experienced organizer to coordinate our low-wage worker organizing projects.  The Coordinator will assist in visioning, planning, and overseeing innovative worker organizing campaigns in conjunction with local and international unions.  

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Participating in and documenting campaigns with an eye toward replication;
  • Work with the Director and affiliate organizations in coordinating implementation of worker organizing campaigns;
  • Work with affiliate organizations to support the participation and leadership of local staff and members
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for affiliate organizations;
  • Collaborate on communications to successfully project campaign’s impact
  • Help ensure that organizing campaigns support the growth and development of partner organizations
  • Work with other senior staff to conceptualize and develop new campaigns
  • Connect affiliate organizations to national campaigns


Job Requirements:
  • Five or more years worker organizing experience, with significant lead experience;
  • Willingness to work long hours, nights, and weekends;
  • Willingness to travel extensively and to be temporarily stationed in the field;
  • Capacity to work independently and with a team;
  • The ability to make and follow through on a work plan;
  • Sharp communications skills;
  • Basic writing and computer skills;
  • The ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus;
