Food & Water Watch, a nonprofit consumer organization based in Washington, D.C., that runs cutting-edge campaigns to help ensure clean water and safe food. We are currently seeking interns to work in our Washington, DC office. Internships are available in our collegial office environment during any of the following terms.
Spring, Fall: This position may be full- or part-time (15 hours per week minimum) for 12 weeks. Spring dates are January-May. Fall term dates are September – December.
Summer: This position is full-time and runs for 10 weeks during May-August. Small stipends may be available for summer interns.
Our Fish Program specifically works to promote clean, green, safe seafood for consumers, while helping to protect the environment and support coastal communities. As a research intern with the fish team, you will be working directly with experienced researchers, organizers, policy experts and lobbyists to research emerging issues and create advocacy materials in support of grassroots campaigns. You will also increase skills to translate complex information into written and online outreach materials and learn methods of investigative research, advocacy writing and strategic thinking.
Responsibilities may include

<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Assist in ongoing research and updates to Smart Seafood Card and Smart Seafood Locator.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Conduct background research on companies and organizations affiliated with the aquaculture and seafood industries.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Disseminating information on our issues via blogging.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->For upper level interns, possibility to research and produce full-length, glossy report.
Requirements
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Strong passion for and commitment to both social and environmental justice
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Strong writing skills
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Some prior research experience
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Graduate students sought for upper level internships, but undergrad students encouraged to apply, as well.

Note: No prior knowledge of fisheries management or marine science is necessary, though it is desirable. Training will be provided for those who are new to the field.
