SEIU BOLD Center: The BOLD Center works to expand the leadership and effectiveness of individuals, teams and organizations to sustain a lifetime of activism and achieve our vision of a multi-racial democracy for generations to come. The BOLD Center’s approach to organizational capacity building includes providing individual support to locals through onsite consultation and retreat-based facilitation. Our approach to personal leadership centers on growing highly proficient and inclusive leaders through individual coaching, transformative leadership development programs and peer-based learning. The BOLD Center brings together equity and inclusion, organization development and change management experts; executive coaches; and social change leaders to grow well rounded union leaders and staff, build highly effective organizations, and implement innovative programs

PURPOSE: The BOLD team works collaboratively to design and deliver interventions and programs that elevate the ability of SEIU to execute its strategy at the international and local levels. . As part of this work, the Executive & Leadership Coaching Manager coordinates the coaching work provided by the BOLD Center to SEIU and SEIU local unions, which includes individual leadership coaching, team and group coaching, and coaching to support anti-racist leadership development, and support leaders, managers and members throughout the union. The Coaching Manager helps to connect the needs of SEIU and SEIU locals with the BOLD Center’s talented coaches and organizational development experts to support them, and ensures the quality and impact of those engagements from start to finish. The manager understands the field of organization development as well as coaching and knows how to leverage each modality to enrich the other. This person understands the centrality of racial justice, equity and inclusion to effective professional and personal development and provides leadership on delivering coaching engagements that center these values.

Primary Responsibilities:

? Manage the overall operation and activities of the coaching program

? Recruit, hire and supervise a consultant pool of coaches, diverse in social and cultural identity as well as coaching approach and style

? Provide guidance and support to coaches regarding coaching/client challenges (supervision in the sense it’s used in the field of coaching)

? Uphold standards and processes across the coaching pool

? Conduct coaching intakes with all potential clients and match with coaches

? Develop programs that engage internal clients with coaching culture and approach, and which increase their skill in leadership, racial justice and equity and inclusion, both independently and by leading teams of consultants engaged in program development. Oversee and evaluate pilot programs.

? Align coaching program with BOLD Center goals designed to support SEIU’s mission and values

? Integrate an organizational and departmental commitment to anti-racism in all endeavors

? Upgrade and maintain coaching activity tracking systems and quality control

? Develop and nurture client relationships to understand need and evaluate coach and program effectiveness

? Communicate regularly with the director and other departmental staff, as needed

? Perform other duties as assigned.

Direction and Decision Making: This position reports to the BOLD Center Director. Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree, significant coach-specific training and ICF certification. In addition, professional experience that would provide for the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

? Significant knowledge and experience in the theory and practice of coaching. Must be familiar with an array of coaching systems and methods

? Minimum of 2 years experience coaching

? Strong knowledge of Organization Development, Racial Justice, Organizational Equity and Inclusion with an intersectional lens; and demonstrated skills implementing these in programs and practices

? Track record of program development and leadership development

? Experience managing a highly skilled pool of coaches a plus; coach supervision training or certification a plus

? Experience working with social justice organizations required (specific work experience with labor unions a plus).

? Commitment to teamwork and a collaborative work culture a must Physical Requirements While work from the DC area is preferred, candidates from outside the DC area are encouraged to apply. Work is generally performed in an office setting, but may be required to work in other settings conducive to performing the work required to complete the assignment. Some travel is required.
