Outreach & Operations Director

Grassroots Organizing/Movement Building

Expand PM’s geography of chapters including responding to new chapter inquiries, supporting new chapter launches, and seeking opportunities for potential chapters

Support existing chapters by coaching chapter leaders on hosting forums, town halls, building local coalitions, and other external efforts

Coach and problem solve with chapters on chapter development efforts, such as Steering Committee functioning, volunteer engagement, building membership

Facilitate cross-chapter sharing and learning via regular chapter leaders calls, (post-pandemic) retreats, peer workshops, and other means

Implement strategies to increase communication with and engagement of members from chapter and non-chapter areas on policy issues and ballot question campaigns

Chair the Chapters Committee and/or support the committee chaired by another person

Chair the Membership Committee and/or support the committee chaired by another person

Work with the Policy Director and the Board to create the annual membership meeting

Work with the Digital Engagement Committee to expand membership and engagement, and chapters’ digital engagement

Fundraising

Chair the Fundraising Committee and/or support the committee chaired by a Board member or volunteer

Project manage key fundraising efforts, such as events and appeals

Manage the membership renewal system and support chapters in expanding membership

Manage donor outreach, such as building the donor base, identifying donors for individual outreach

Marketing

Chair the Digital Engagement Committee and/or support the committee chaired by a Board member or volunteer

Develop (in collaboration with the Policy Director) and implement the following:

Overall marketing strategy to ensure consistency, continuity in brand messaging, and effectiveness

Content strategy/blog: develops content ideas, edits written content, SEO

Social media: develops content ideas, writes copy and sources graphics/images, schedules posts and engages with followers

Email marketing: assists with developing content and writing emails, edits and schedules emails, tracks analytics and adjusts as needed

Oversee paid digital advertising campaigns

OOD Required knowledge, skills, abilities, experience

Knowledge of and experience with progressive politics and policy
Experience with building advocacy communities
Strong communication, organization, facilitation, and training skills
Experience working with diverse communities
Ability to work independently as well as with teams and volunteers
Comfort with dynamic, fast-paced work

Tech skills preferred: WordPress, Action Network, text- and phone-banking systems

This position reports to the Personnel Committee of the Board, and works in partnership with the Policy Director. This is a part-time exempt employee position beginning at 20 hours per week with the intention to grow to full-time as the organization grows. The full-time salary range is $65,000 – $75,000 plus benefits; the part-time salary will be pro-rated.
