Operations Director

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Operations Director will work closely with the Executive Director on systems and database, financial, office, and board management. The Operations Director leads behind the scenes to keep the organization financially solvent and to ensure it runs smoothly, in compliance with the law, and in alignment with its values. This position will manage our Operations Manager, and will make sure the Operations team runs seamlessly.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Assist and manage the Operations Manager to make sure we always know where MNYC is financially (how much money we have in the bank, whether our expenses are within our planned budget) at any given time. This includes responsibilities like:
Managing all of the organization’s finances alongside our bookkeeper, including processing all income and expenditures, maintaining all financial systems, and internal c3/c4 systems and billing.
Assisting in the annual budget and work plan process with staff leadership and the board of directors.
Supporting the Executive Director and Operations Manager in managing cash flow and budget revisions.
PERSONNEL AND HUMAN RESOURCES
Ensure our personnel and HR policies and processes reflect our values and are implemented with accuracy and fairness. This includes responsibilities like:

Creating and updating personnel policies in partnership and with approval from Executive Director
Managing personnel policies, new employee onboarding, and all hiring paperwork
Managing payroll, time tracking, and benefits administration, ensuring on-time and accurate paychecks and delivery of benefits
Creating a culture where staff feel safe and comfortable coming to you to discuss HR issues
Supervise Operations Manager
ADMINISTRATION AND OFFICE MANAGEMENT
Ensure the “lights stay on” and that all staff have what they need to do their jobs. This includes responsibilities like:

Managing leases, contracts, and insurance policies on behalf of MNYC
Ensuring that MNYC stays compliant with its union contract
Organizing and maintaining organizational records and documents
Ensuring required nonprofit reporting is filed accurately and on time, including organizational 990s
Ensuring all employees have the office and program supplies needed to perform their job responsibilities
Managing logistics (venue, food, supplies, etc) for staff meetings, retreats, and major organizational events (in collaboration with colleagues who are overseeing and organizing those events).
BOARD MANAGEMENT
Provide support to ensure board meetings happen on a regular basis, are legally compliant, and that board members have what they need to productively engage in the subject matter at hand. This includes responsibilities like:
Working in partnership and with approval from the Executive Director to organize and prepare for board meetings, communicate with board members on a regular basis, and ensure board processes are legally compliant
Managing logistics for board meetings and retreats (venue, food, supplies, etc.)
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Demonstrated ability to manage an organization’s finances
Very organized and detail oriented
Building, maintaining, improving, and ensuring adoption of systems and processes
Demonstrated commitment to social justice, anti-oppression, and undoing institutional racism
A self-starter, comfortable with taking initiative and ownership over projects
Ability to multitask, and know when to ask for help
Creative and flexible, able to think outside the box and react to situations quickly
Willing to work irregular hours when necessary
Interest in developing the leadership of young people in an intentional way
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite products, Quickbooks ideal

Compensation is $60-65K annually and includes paid vacation and sick time. This is a full-time position with varied evening and weekend requirements. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
