Justice for Migrant Women is seeking seasonal Bilingual Outreach Workers to support our special programming and outreach activities during the summer of 2021. Reporting directly to the Community Organizer and working in close collaboration with the Chief Programs Officer and the Essential Ohio Campaign’s Community Organizer, the Bilingual Outreach Workers will assist in fulfilling J4MW’s outreach activities to farmworker communities, community events, donation distribution, and other special projects for the summer.

Position Responsibilities:

Participate in no-contact outreach visits to farmworker housing, community events, donation distribution, and presentations.
Travel to farmworker housing in Ohio to distribute outreach materials, perform data collection for surveys, collect farmworker stories, and other duties as assigned.
Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
Attend regularly scheduled meetings and trainings.

Essential Job Functions:

Frequently participating in face-to-face and or telephone conversations with people.
Standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling and/or crouching.
Lifting up to 15 lbs.

Fluency in spoken Spanish strongly preferred

Must be dependable, competent, and trustworthy
Must possess a valid driver’s license, and hold and maintain automobile insurance at all times during employment
Must have reliable access to a vehicle to regularly travel for outreach (mileage to be reimbursed at government rate)
Proficiency in all Google Apps (including Docs, Sheets) is preferred

Employee Status: This position is full-time, but temporary, from June 7 – August 31, with the possibility of extension through October. Applicants who can only work a part-time schedule or for half of the summer will be considered, with priority consideration given to those applicants who are available to work full-time.

Location: Applicants must be located within commuting distance of Fremont, Ohio (J4MW’s headquarters) to facilitate on the ground work in Sandusky county and other parts of the state.

All employees are required to comply with CDC guidelines, including wearing face masks and maintaining proper social distancing, among other CDC-recommended measures.

This is a temporary staff position to be paid $15.00 an hour. This position is not eligible for employee benefits.
