The Community Health Impact Coalition ( exists to make professional community health workers (CHWs) a norm worldwide. A network of health delivery organizations in 40+ countries, the Coalition works to ensure CHWs get the fair pay, skills, supplies, and support they need so everyone can have access to high quality healthcare. We are building the collective action networks required to (i) conduct large-scale research on the practices that enable better community-based care to reach more people and (ii) ensure those practices get adopted by health systems everywhere.

The Coalition is recruiting a CHW Engagement Lead to expand CHW participation and leadership in global research and advocacy. This role is a full-time position. The successful candidate will partner with Coalition member organizations and CHWs to drive uptake of a digital CHW Advocacy Training Course, connect CHWs with opportunities to apply advocacy skills as part of the CHW Advocates campaign, and grow and steward a network of CHW Advocates demanding “nothing about us, without us”.

Train over 10,000 CHWs and CHW Supervisors as Advocates
Ensure meaningful CHW inclusion in every forum where CHWs are being talked about
Launch an International Association of CHWs advocating for the rights of CHWs and their patients globally
Core Responsibilities

Drive uptake of a digital CHW Advocacy Training Course: In collaboration with the Coalition Secretariat, Coalition members, and external technology partners, you will help us get CHW Advocacy Training into the hands of as many CHWs as possible.
Connect CHWs with opportunities to apply advocacy skills: You will work with funders, event planners, and CHWs to ‘ensure nothing about us without us’ by including and elevating CHW voices in decision-making through virtual and in-person fora.
Organize a global network of CHW Advocates engaged in advocacy: You will be responsible for building and enhancing relationships with a global network of CHWs and CHW Supervisors, facilitating their meaningful internal/external advocacy initiatives, and encouraging / supporting CHWs in their own advocacy efforts, laying the foundation for a possible International Association of CHWs.
Required Qualifications

Community mobilization: You have 5-7 years of total experience including 2+ years of experience working in community health or community development, preferably as a CHW, CHW Supervisor, and/or community organizer (with a strong preference for experience working in low- or middle-income country health systems).
Tech-savvy: You readily embrace technology and know what it takes to deliver important content in a user-friendly way
Relationship building/maintenance: You have the thoughtfulness and confidence to influence stakeholders from diverse geographic, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
Communication: You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French, Spanish, or Swahili (2nd language required, 3rd a plus).
Initiative: You are someone who seeks out opportunity and acts thoughtfully without needing to wait for instruction. You are attentive to detail.
Adaptability: You feel comfortable defining new deliverables and processes in a rapidly-changing work environment and can cope effectively with complexity and change.

This is a full-time position with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational fit.
