Purpose

The 350.org US Partnerships Senior Coordinator’s job is to build and maintain a critical set of relationships with organizations within the United States. These relationships situate 350.org within the broader US movement context and inform our strategy, as well as how we are accountable to leadership from Black, Indigenous and People of Color-led and frontline groups and partners in  the Global South. The US Partnerships Senior Coordinator does this work with leaders and local groups to ensure that both political education and movement strategy are collectively understood and practiced. The US Partnerships Senior Coordinator would work as part of the U.S. Program team to provide recommendations for how 350 U.S. can organize and mobilize our membership and base in support of climate action and intersectional movement work.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify critical local and national fights and help to mobilize 350’s existing base to support these fights
  • Help identify and craft joint campaigns with US-based partners;
    Support in the constant refining of 350’s analysis of the current movement landscape and opportunities
  • Represent 350 in various coalitions and determine when and where other staff and leadership are needed
  • Organize political education/action calls with the base for
    supporting local/national/international campaigns
    mobilizing the base to turn out for critical US-based local and national issues
  • Organize in-person delegations to support US-based and internationally-based partners
  • Build relationships with diaspora groups in the US, in order to support campaigns and inform 350’s strategy. This would generally be for the purpose of supporting campaigns in the Global South.
  • Help build out and support  membership/network council of member leaders in order to strengthen the relationship between 350 national staff and members on the ground.
  • To support staff and local groups in understanding where their work fits into the movement ecosystem.
  • To help connect 350 groups with potential partners and networks.

Organizational and Team Initiatives

  • Develop equity skills and competencies by actively contributing to US JEDI (justice, equity, diversity and inclusion) programming, including serving a term on the Equity team
  • Contribute learning and collaboration in the Global Organizing Community of Practice
  • Understand 350.org’s history, campaigns and theory of social change, and keep current with basic climate science and policy.
  • From time to time, use this knowledge to represent 350.org’s perspective in varied public venues based on geographic location and areas of expertise.
  • Work with other organizational leaders to ensure that the field organizing is well coordinated and aligned with the rest of 350’s campaigning and programmatic initiatives.
  • From time to time, contribute work towards 350.org’s overall mission that is outside of standard responsibilities and instead relies solely on geographic location or work capacity

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience working with national level campaigns or organizations.
  • Experience or familiarity organizing with an orientation to movement building and broader social justice approach, including working in diverse coalitions, especially in communities of color, low-income communities, and communities impacted by climate change.
  • Campaign strategy, planning, and volunteer management experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with people from diverse racial, ethnic, class, age, gender, and sexual orientation backgrounds.
  • Ability to adapt to and juggle evolving and competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently as part of a remote team and communicating over phone, Slack, and messaging programs.
  • Enthusiasm and ability to travel up to 25% of your staff time
    Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Experience with Nonviolent Direct Action

Desired (but not required) skills and experiences

  • Experience with direct action
  • Experience creating externally facing, written and/or visual content for organizing campaigns
  • Familiarity or excitement to learn digital organizing skills using new strategies and platforms.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Position Type: Full Time

Compensation: $85,000 plus benefits
